We have toads in our garden. Each seems to have its own territory. They eat slugs and snails. They are most welcome.
We also have slugs and snails in abundance. They seem to be everywhere. They stick to any vegetation they can get on. They slime from plant to plant, devastating our wonderful hostas. They are not welcome! Each morning in these long days of June we rise at dawn, seeking them out, salt at hand.
Today I discovered my cucumber youth playing host to a monster slug. I took it to toadland. I hope he likes his breakfast seasoned...

This drabble was prompted by my wife, who wondered whether toads would eat salted slugs! She was concerned that we might be plundering their food cupboard! (Sorry Jamie, but enough is enough... my cucumber seeding was the final straw for me today!)

I guess that slug parked on the wrong plant and had to be "toad" away.

Brilliant!!! Thank you for the laugh, Neville and Jamie.🤣 By the way, don't think I am crazy but I leave food out for stray cats and I saw huge slugs (eek) eating that cat food. Can you believe it? I am sure they are mutant slugs.

I've seen them eating cat food and drinking milk. Also a friend of mine feeds them bits of cucumber... ;-)

Aye Jaimie, cucumbers and tomatoes are their gourmet choices (I just Googled it) but cat food? I really thought they were herbivores but apparently not. :-D but nice to know I am not crazy after all, LOL..
