First I heard the whistles. Then, silhouetted against the solid grey sky, I saw two enormous birds which I recognised instantly from their forked tails and characteristic calls of distress. What was their problem?
Then I spotted it. A single small bird as black as soot. A lone crow was terrorising the two giant kites mercilessly. It wouldn’t give up. It was dive-bombing and nipping them!
Surely these two giants could join forces to see off this tiny Spitfire? Convert it into a light lunch for two? But no... this incredibly courageous crow saw them off.
What a carrion!

Thanks Jamie. Sorry about the ending... it was an afterthought which demanded that I edit out 3 words to accommodate it!😁

Teehee!
The hummingbirds are starting to make their appearances now that I've put the feeders back up for the season. I saw a couple a few weeks ago but it was still quite chilly then, so these must've caught an early flight up from South America!
