Semana Santa at the Alhambra, that exquisite Islamic palace atop a hill overlooking Granada. What a setting for a click and run-for-your-life adventure!

Having escaped the countless Holy Week processions in Seville and high-tailed it off by rail towards the Sierra Nevada, it was time for sightseeing. And what a magnificent sight too.

Emerging from the beauty within into the sunshine without, it was his faithful dog that gave him away. But his minder did the seeing, as, CLICK!...
my instant memento. Spotting us, he gave chase but was no match for me and Mrs H...

Actually I think the minder just gave up on us, as in the sprint, me and Mrs H would come out 6th and 7th in a 5 man race...

Oh yes! I’ve delighted (or more likely amused) countless students! I know no shame... and it’s really warm too. Challenging to see out though. It’s a beautiful piece of work though. The owner of the hat factory was in a party of Kazakhs on a British Council funded course at the Uni and I was in charge. It was presented at the final dinner at our ‘Chequers’ clone house. I immediately wore it there. There is definitely a drabble in that occasion... such a laugh!

I used to give students scary individual challenges in front of the class and that hat was ideal for drawing names at random.😱

Re the above drabble, at the time I wondered why the then David Blunkett would want to visit the glorious ‘sights’ of the beautiful Alhambra, but later I realised that there was great tactility and atmosphere (e.g. water) about it and that maybe it was me who might have missed something in my enjoyment of just the visual magnificence of the place!
