Classicfm are doing their annual Carol of the Year event on radio right now. We listeners can vote for our favourite carols. There is so much choice. Might it be Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night, or maybe In the Bleak Midwinter, although the Midwinter Solstice was yesterday.
So many wonderful carols to choose from.... but my favourite carol is Carol from the Dog and Duck. In skimpy skirts, with her festive balloons well blown up and in danger of popping (out), the way she pulls those pints is biblical. Oh Come All Ye Faithful... and they probably will!

Getting into the Christmas spirit then Neville!

Absolutely Marion, but it’ll be just me and Mrs H here listening to carols on Classicfm on Christmas Day. Sad maybe, but everyone’s in the same boat and we have to make the most of everything we have got. And we’ll see all our children and grandchildren on Zoom; that should be fun!

Wow, that’s quite a serious comment Drew for a very unserious drabble! Other than Carol at the Dog and Duck, our joint favourite here is the Christina Rossetti poem In the Bleak Midwinter to the Darke melody. Make me cry even!. But I also really like the penis song (see the wonderful Irish film When Brendan Met Trudy).

It’s a terrific, simple idea with brilliant performances from the two leads. Without acting as a spoiler, I love the ending. There are some super little Irish films that do simple ideas huge justice through brilliant casting and performance e.g. ‘Once’ and, earlier, ‘Hear My Song’. Needless to say, I love them all!
