It’s over. After all the planning, it’s over. After all the effort designing and printing off the cards... it’s not on the cards after all.
It had been perfect. Her birthday actually falls on a Saturday - a perfect day for a birthday bash. But her plans have been well and truly bashed.
The UK Government’s decision to step up the crisis level made it easy to decide to step down the party... stopping our friends stepping out and stepping in... to our house.
Ever the pessimist, Mrs H wrote to cancel... but I decided postponement would be much, much better.

Sorry to hear that. We just had the first case of it in Alabama this morning and now they've already had a second. People are going nuts and buying stuff like it's the Apocalypse.

Same thing here. The supermarket shelves are out of pasta, paracetamol, flour, canned goods and loads of other things. Maybe an enforced slimming diet will be the order of the day.

Here it's toilet paper, hand sanitizer and bleach. They may not have anything to eat but they'll be clean.

But my sister just said when she was there a little while ago now the food is flying off the shelves. Before we had a case here they were buying the cleaning stuff, now I guess all bets are off.

It’s an interesting sociological phenomenon, seeing which items folk regard as essential. Bog roll (toilet paper) is top of the list here. I guess the whole defecation thing is in the ‘taboo’ category... the source of potentially huge gut-crunchingly acute embarrassment, even when you’re on your own (!) And of course you need the bleach to cover over the traces. As you amusingly observe, they’ll be clean as they starve... We do however have a pasta rush over here right now - clearly Italy is forgiven!

Yep. I was not working today so, I decided to go food shopping. I actually hate having too much food in the house. Well, I won't have any agghhh!!! I could not find pasta, nor tomato cans, no canned food, well basically, I saved money but joke apart, I do not know what I will do if this lasts. I have teenagers to feed lol.
