Mark took his two young daughters out for a pizza treat. They’d chosen their pizzas when one of the staff came across to take their orders.

The two little ones were babbling away excitedly to each other, not taking any notice of the ordering process.

“Now come on girls,” said Mark, “tell the lady what pizzas you’d like to have please.”

The waitress coughed loudly, pointing at her yellow gender-neutral badge displaying ‘THEY/THEM’.

They gave their pizza orders to ‘Them’.

Later, ‘Them’ brought the bill. Mark coughed loudly, pointing at the automatic 10% tip as he crossed it out.
