Café au lait #2

by

“That’s you isn’t it? Always thinking you’re a cut above everyone else, me especially. Well let me tell you, Marie always has café au lait... or as I call it milky coffee... every evening... and her family are French aristocracy. So you can put that well and truly in your savoir-faire and smoke it!

“Ah, Marie, lovely, sexy Marie! I wondered how long it would take you to get her into the conversation. And when do you see Marie of an evening, eh George? Is there something you need to tell me then?”

“Yes dear. I’m leaving you. Olé!”

Not sure if it works, but it was fun writing.😊

It does indeed. Glad you're posting again. We can't get everyone on at the same time anymore it seems. Now Drew's been away for a few days.

Thanks Christopher. Well I’ve finished renovating the kitchen now and I am dealing OK with my brother’s death, so I’m starting to gear up for Fedelta the return. I’ve been reading a great book to feed the writer’s soul. It’s by Stephen King and called On Writing. One third biog, two thirds writing advice. It’s good. I’ve never read another Stephen King novel in my life (not my kind of thing), but that’s irrelevant. It’s not a load of rules and regs, it’s just tips from a storywriter of some (great) popularity. You’ve probably read it, but at under a tenner over here, maybe 10 dollars in US, it’s real value for money imho.

Yeah, I know you've had a lot of tragedy recently as well as the kitchen reno. Glad to hear Fedelta is back in the pipeline.

I've never read anything by Stephen King either (though I have seen a lot of the movies). I'll check and see if I can find the book. But, to be honest, after binge watching Inside No. 9 I've been a little shook as a writer. That show is so bloody brilliant and written so well it makes me feel like an elementary school student every time I sit down to write now.

    Thanks Drew.
This week’s Inside No 9 was deliciously gruesome and clever. But I guess Christopher might have to wait (Watch out for Series 5 #5, ‘Thinking Out Loud’ when it gets on Britbox).

Yeah, there's no place I can see the new series here. Hopefully BritBox will get them before too long. I've just finished watching Steve's and Reece's first series, The League Of Gentlemen. Not on the level of Inside No. 9, but brilliant in its own way. Tonight I'm going to start the show they did after the League, called Psychoville.
