A fine Mèze #19

by

On Mondays, it seems, la France is fermée. Shops closed, restaurants closed too. Except one or two.

With limited choice, we dined on the waterfront. We’d advance booked in case it would be full. Incorrectly it seemed. Nobody advance books Les Saveurs, they just hop along, maybe anticipating the tasty kangaroo steaks.

But it was Sylvie that was the tastiest, or so the mosquitoes surrounding our waterside table thought. Fearing her being eaten alive, we moved inside. Seated there were just two really old couples.

On the plus side, mosquitoes were absent, clearly not so keen on eating tough meat.

Thanks Drew. They always go for Mrs H and not me... I think that lots of women and fair-skinned guys must have some pretty tasty skin chemistry going on. For some reason I tried the kangaroo (just think of the air miles!☹️) and I reckon I won’t do so again... not when there’s lovely meat like muntjac available round here with just a view road miles on the clock.

Muntjac loin (fillet steak equivalent) is far, far tastier than its bovine equivalent (and definitely Roo) and takes just 6 minutes to roast. And the guy who brings it to us makes the most fantabulous Muntjac sausages too. Yum yum! 😋
