She’d made a terrible mistake. Her mother had been right. This man she had married would amount to nothing and make her unhappy... that was for sure.

Sat there as they were in what seemed like the middle of nowhere, in the hire car that had seized up, she was certain her future life was destined to be lived in abject misery. As if to prove it, they would miss the dinner he’d booked at a top West End restaurant. By midnight her new husband had agreed an annulment.

Tonight, decades later, at L’Olivo, they recalled that day.

Oh well!

    Yep, it’s true. Turns out I wasn’t so bad after all! 😊

    The wedding was terrific, but the journey to London afterwards was a disaster as the gearbox in the Hertz rented car seized up in the middle of nowhere (where they filmed the legendary Dad’s Army series. I’d been badgered into getting a hire car rather than take my own, so it wasn’t my fault! The advantage was Hertz replaced the car with one without confetti, ‘just married etc.
    Marriage to her has been an absolute joy though.
