Legs up
A wonderful brown-bodied spider
Decide to roam round our bath
He’s been there for almost a week now
I thought he was having a laugh.
I’m wondering though if he’s happy
He looks pretty glum, so perhaps
He’s bored looking up at his image
Reflected right back in the taps.
Maybe I’ll tackle his boredom
Give the lad something to do
Help him connect to his web there
Through the router I’ve placed on the loo.
Tomorrow I'll give him a leg up
And another seven as well
To save my scary arachnid
From the plughole to spider hell.

Too late! I went to the bathroom just now and he’s gone. Just like that... after so long. Down the plughole again maybe? Or superspider effort to get up the slippy sides. My wife reckons he heard me reciting the poem to her and saw his past flash before his complex eyes... and decided on either life or accept his wastepipe fate. We will never know! 🕷
