The first ‘hen do’ for my daughter is just days away, at our house. Mrs H is sourcing pom-poms online.
She’s found a Scando-sounding wedding paraphernalia supplier and ordered stuff. The website blurb says they encompass ‘hygge’ (heu-gah), a Danish word meaning ‘a warm, friendly feeling’.
We’re told that ‘Conrad’ came yesterday to deliver and nobody was home. Liar! He’s on his way again today.
We can track Conrad’s progress, but I’m not sure we should piss him off as, having seen his mugshot, Mrs H reckons “He looks a bit of a thug!”
Not so ‘hygge’!

Is a hen do the same as a wedding shower here in the States or is it more like a bachelorette party?
Christopher almost 5 years ago
Bridal shower is another term for a wedding shower here.

Definitely a bachelorette party (she’s having three... she always did love parties). Over here many of them these days are held in a foreign country, flights being so cheap to Europe. They can involve lots of booze, lots of laughter and generally silly behaviour. Not this one though... it’s being held at our house and her mum and mum-in-law-to-be will be there... (maybe that’s why she’s having a couple more parties where they’ll be absent! 🥳

Hope you’re not affected by the very bad weather in the southern states, Christopher? The news reports said it had reached Alabama.

Just some heavy rain earlier. The wind kicked up a bit but it wasn't too bad. Thanks for asking.
Sounds like your daughter is going to have a good time before the wedding! (And hopefully after.)

Thanks. I certainly hope she’ll have a good time... a relatively sober time too I expect because she’s not a great drinker at all. She’s lovely.
