They’d called her Dawn. She was bright, fresh and always optimistic. The optimism of a brand new day. She looked forward, never back. As beautiful as a summer’s day. It was difficult to fault her. She always wore a smile, even in the early morning rain, declaring “Well you can’t appreciate the sun without something to compare it with.” And then, like orphan Annie, she would always sing “The sun’ll come out tomorrow!”
We were classmates and became ‘an item’. I was round Dawn’s house all the time, even when she wasn’t there.
Because I preferred her younger sister Midnight!

Gave me a chuckle. I'm something of a night owl myself.
