Famous - well not exactly!
“My cousin presented an award at the BAFTA TV Awards last night!” my daughter exclaimed today, excitedly. “She’s famous!”
“Well not exactly...” I replied. “She’s your second cousin once removed.” I was striving to explain.
“Well Paloma Faith curtseyed because she going to play Princess Diana in ‘The Crown’! She’s famous!”
“Well not exactly famous... yet” I conceded. “It’s true that for a microsecond she was in the news and.... she was in Hello magazine... so maybe that makes her a little bit famous. But time will tell...”
But the phone lines buzzed “Did you see my cousin on TV?...”

The online mumblings suggest that she’s more like Jodie Foster than Di, but hey! Her dad’s a really nice bloke, but I’ve not met her. My wife is the relative, and was named after the family. My only royal connection was my former secretary, who was Lady Di’s immediate predecessor, but she famously dumped HRH at Windsor Castle. Lovely girl though.
