What is it, dear wife of mine?
(How long have you got?)
Your beauty, constant over time?
True, but strangely not.

Sticking fast to ‘what is right’?
Of course, but only half
Your trust, your love, your honesty
Those happy times you laugh?

How selfless your consideration
Of everyone but you
And maybe your determination
Of ‘to yourself be true’

Times we’ve had, times we’ve shared
Our children, one, two, three
Contentment when I’m coming home
Knowing it’s you I’ll see.

The thing, dear wife, encompassing
All you are to me
Is every lovely thing you are
And your integrity.

Thanks Ginette. It’s either Valentine’s or stroke induced I guess!

Thanks very much Drew, and thanks for the concern. I had a small stroke creep up on me, but cross fingers, everything’s working normally again. Having all sorts of scans to find out how a young man like me has succumbed to this. It has generated a few drabbles and provided material for loads more. Still in hospital but hopefully will be given parole soon. (Missed the ballet last night, but hey...! The old poetry stuff seems to be flowing a bit, but all the romantic stuff is directed towards the missus, lovely woman that she is! Must get on with Fedelta when I’m released.

Glad to know things are progressing nicely. Hopefully they're getting to the bottom of it.

    Another lovely poem.
