They’d discovered the love letters they had exchanged years ago, when he was working in Africa while she was raising the children back in England. Needs must when the Devil drives. Pilot jobs were in short supply back home as ships got bigger and numbers got smaller.

Their clutter-free home made the decision to burn all their letters an imperative... along with the risk of their now grown up children stumbling upon some of their parents’ x-rated excerpts. But first, they would read them, together, one last time.

The flame still burnt. But the love letters wouldn’t be.

    Really nice. It's a shame the modern world doesn't have actual love letters, unless you take the time to archive and print out emails and text messages, which isn't quite the same.

    One more thing that's gone now.
