The future’s not orange
I played golf again today... badly. Mis-hitting, mis-aiming and missing balls. Today, through mishap, I lost my favourite. Dayglo orange. You’d think it would shine out from its hiding place. But no, no, nowhere!
I played on with white.
After being savagely defeated, I wasn’t going lose my favourite orange golfball without a fight. So I decided to go down the road adjacent to the course and search further. Fighting my way through brambles where I thought it might be, I found lots of white ones, so now I have more balls than the SAS, but nothing orange.

Deal! Btw, in order to recover from the sad loss of my orange golfball, I spent yesterday afternoon vegging in from of a film on DVD I hadn’t seen for ages. It is fab... ‘When Brendan Met Trudy’. You may well have already seen it, but if not, I suggest you seek it out. I am sure you would love the female lead, Trudy, played brilliantly by Flora Montgomery and be sure to listen out for one of the best of her lines, “Sing the penis song, Bren.” I almost forgot the orange ball...

It’s a film, not a movie... no whistles and bells but a great little story, funny, Irish (BBC/RTE/Roddy Doyle) delivered without fancy effects or locations. A film made in the Irish way with a lot of heart in there too. I love Flora Montgomery in it and the male lead/hero plays it well too. I may have to watch it again very soon myself!
