They named him Franz, Franz Xaver. He was the youngest son of his rockstar-of-the-day father. Like so many sons of famous, talented dads, Franz followed his paternal parent’s lead but never quite hit the same highs, or descended to the same lows.
He lived his entire life in the shadow of his superstar father. Good, but never quite good enough.
The epitaph etched on Franz Xaver’s tombstone in Karlovy Vary translates ‘May the name of his father be his epitaph, as his veneration for him was the essence of his life. Victim of the Mozart FX. Shame!
