Cut to the quick

I really like the way the hairdresser cuts my wife’s hair. Neat, cute and a perfect frame for her pretty face. I tell her I like it... we all need positive reinforcement. Maybe I compliment her too much... so much so that it’s actually irritating.

When her hair is first cut though, it’s a bit extreme, and I’m not so keen on it for a while. That’s the only explanation I can find to explain the phenomenon that happened today, having occurred so many times before. “Your hair looks particularly nice right now.”

“Oh, well I’m having it cut today!”
