Sunny Cove - so named because it enjoys more sun and fewer visitors than other beaches in the estuary. Not easy to get on if you don’t have a boat, it’s even harder to get off if you do. The prevailing sou’westerly winds ensure constant waves and wavelets, even when everywhere else is flat calm. Naturally, our chosen beach back then.

Difficult, dangerous and downright daft, I took my family there daily in a small craft with a British Seagull outboard. It wasn’t just the Seagull needing to be wound-up... waist deep in water, I was wound-up tight too!
