It was good while it lasted

We'd left before cracking of dawn
Cab came to pile us aboard
As autumn was rapidly falling
For a holiday, hot and abroad.

Didn't feel like it at all
(We'd bid summer "go then in peace")
To think we'd be donning our kit
For a dip in the sea around Greece.

Didn't take long to acclime
Soon with our snorkels we snorked
Lying on sunbeds all day
(Far, far too hot to have walked.)

But twelve days they came and they went
Flew back again on the plane
Back to the shock we'd been dreading
Back here to autumn again.
