He'd played for the best teams in Europe and some beyond. Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, PSG, Benfica, Man United and even Chelsea. The media nicknamed him The Foot for his right wing crosses, his left wing crosses, his long shots, his goal shots and one UK national tabloid awarded him a pair of golden boots when he came back to Britain. He'd been a star player in teams that won almost every title that mattered in football... and he often scored the decisive goals.
His behaviour off the pitch was exemplary. The Foot was a leg end.

Thanks, Drew. The idea came from a birthday card which announced in large letters that I was a legend. I like words and looking at their constituent parts, saddo that I am. :-)
