'Ave a set menu

This is the time of year for dining al fresco. The restaurant on the English east coast was trendily self-service. The television audience lapped it up as much as the diners.

This was BBC Springwatch, where the British public consumed the natural world, course by course. We watched as birds, fish and mammals went about their business, procreating, feeding and defending (some better than others).

Today's 'Special' was Avocet chicks, freshly served in a natty 'basket'. This was the dish of choice for Black Headed Gulls. We watched in horror as all four chicks were snatched. Terrible table manners!
