A hundred words are very few
So I’ve often heard
How can you really tell a tale
With such paucity of word?
You must be quite decisive
What’s out and what’s left in
The skill of writing drabbles
Calls for discipline.
Surprising, shocking, warming, fun
The best can tax the brain
Twixt the lines by forcing you
To think and think again.
To make a story stronger
More words are not required
If those remaining kindle
An imagination fired.
Your written words revisit
Wield the pen of red
The very best words you might use
Are those best left unsaid.
