Surrounded by mothers and babies, I stuck out like a pendulum on an iWatch. I was doing time, waiting for freedom. I was the taxi driver. In the taxi business, time is money. Not for me though, my taxi rides were free.
On half-price Monday, I could stand the baby noise in the city centre restaurant, but sitting on my own, like Billy Nomates, was embarrassing! The alternative?... sitting with mums, talking baby-talk. No thanks!
But I was my daughter's freedom. Unable to walk or drive, she was out of her prison, with baby Harry. That's fare enough!

To be someone's freedom is a true gift!

It gave me time to write this drabble so it wasn't just waiting....and even if it had been, I'd have been very happy to do so. It was great to watch her chatting animatedly and showing off her baby. I was very proud, silently, at a distant table.
