Pass the Drabble

by

...too preoccupied to notice the symbol tattooed on the now grey skin of Tommy's right arm. The symbol was a Black Sun, a kind of mosaic circle, incorporating a pattern disturbingly reminiscent of a Nazi swastika. Any normal person spotting it might have given a little shudder, but probably would have thought no more of it and dismissed it as symbolic of rebellious youth culture. A paranormal such as Rosalie would have known exactly its significance and would have had a clue to Tommy's enemies had she noticed the symbol.

Finding the page though, she found reference to the 'nazar'...

    Thanks Avery; thanks Michelle.

I think it's such a good idea of Christopher. Let's hope more of us drablrs join in; as you say, Michelle, an homage to this site which has been such a wonderful outlet for a wide spectrum of creativity. I'm already excited about where this little story will go, particularly as I can grab the tiller occasionally...but it's a heavy responsibility!

D.M. has been very quiet recently. I'm sure he would make an excellent contribution...and Drew said he wants to be involved so let's hope someone puts up their hand soon or it's back to Christopher to continue the cycle.

That's a brilliant idea Beverly. I will do it right now. Thanks.

Sorry Beverley for name mis-spell. I have put the provenance in the tags. I wouldn't know how to put a story link in though. Michael Cook, the site's architect, might be able to though, but I think he may be quite busy right now.

If nobody has put themselves forward I don't mind having a crack at it. I love this idea! I have added mine now, I hope I haven't taken it off track!

'Been on holiday. Thanks for the compliment, Neville. I will try to follow the thread
and jump in soon before Tommy meets his demise!

Neville, I think this is a moot point now, considering that L. Michelle and Avery have deleted their entries. I don't dabble or drabble in the occult, so when it took that turn I decided to bow out. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes of this place, with people deleting drabbles and deleting whole accounts and unfollowing someone and then following them back, but I think from now on I'll just stick to writing my silly little drabbles. It was an interesting idea, anyway. And I appreciate everyone's participation.

Christopher, it is odd that Michelle and Avery have deleted their entries. They seemed to be quite involved with the concept, but I think everyone is free to edit or remove their own drabbles. I too am not keen on the occult and to enable me to produce a drabble I had to do a bit of research. I feared that if it got more deeply into the occult I would be unable to contribute further. It was such a good idea of yours, but it appears to have petered out now. I guess the very nature of the concept can take a story in all sorts of direction. Sorry if you're disappointed with the outcome.

Well, it's fine. It was just an idea. I really wasn't planning on contributing much to it. I was playing Dr. Frankenstein with the rest of you in turns as the Monster, wreaking havoc on the village of Drablr. I'm researching the next Jake Randolph series now, so I imagine early next year my focus here is going to be on good ole' Jake.

It was a good idea, but the functionality of Drablr doesn't really support it yet. Also, while it can take one out of one's literary comfort zone, it has the potential to exclude too.

I'm waiting for my new year present of Randolph II, so you'll need to be busy, please, Christopher! I still think there's room for Terri to reappear, but who am I to judge or even ask?

Thanks for your enthusiasm, Neville. I think Jake's going to have a new love interest in this one, which will be set a few years after the original story, in the mid-1950's. This one takes place during the Beatnik era, which is why I'm having to do quite a bit of research prior to starting on the story. I'm confident I'll begin posting at least by mid-January.
