I don’t like dinner parties. I prefer the intimacy of eating à deux. It takes me all day to prepare though. I like to get every small detail perfect according to the preferences of my guests. It’s not easy to discover surreptitiously their loves and loathes but I try and hope I don’t disappoint. The table setting is always immaculate, even if I say so myself. The wines are always fine.
I never worry about the conversation because I am an excellent listener. I struggled with Marcel Marceau last week though, but it should be fascinating tomorrow with Lord Byron.
