Old Rudi loved his chickens; they were his hobby. You could measure his mood by how many eggs were laid. Lots of eggs, happiness; few eggs, misery!

Rudi was miserable for two months. Hens on strike! Eggs laid off!

“What they need is a new cockerel to make them work!” So he went off and bought a new bird. “I’ll show them” he thought.

The cockerel went in the cage with the hens. Much squawking lasting into the night.

“Aha, Bingo!”

Rudi checked the cage next morning. The cockerel was sitting on the nest, hen-pecked! The rise of ‘heninism’!

Oh Rudi...a cock is rarely the answer to unhappy hens. Well done!

It was a true story about Rudi, the father of a German friend of mine.
