The screaming sirens of the firetrucks slice the midnight air like a knife as thick plumes of black smoke rise from the Caraway Arms apartments, leaving a blanket of fear over its residences who are spilling out into the streets.

“Marshall says there’s still someone in number 102. He’s refusing to leave!” one officer shouts to another. “Drag him out if you have to!”

The firefighter breaks down the apartment door revealing an elderly man coughing and clutching the wall. “I’m not leaving her again!” he shouts.

Suddenly the wall collapses. A skeleton tumbles out.

The old man screams, “Elizabeth!”

Thank you very much! There's nothing I love more than a great twist at the end.

Thank you all so much for your encouragement! And Drew, no, I'm not Mr. Poe, although that's extremely flattering. And on that note I will say that Opium played no part in these writings.

A very fitting story for your icon photo there. Nice imagery. The story tells itself so to speak. Quite enjoyable. :)
