Dragons

The meteor smashed into the earth's surface, sending continents scattering. Tsunamis surged. Volcanos erupted. Rock and fire filled the sky. The dinosaurs cried and died. But a few saw the flames coming. Nowhere to hide, they opened their mouths, swallowing the fire and smoke inside. Transformed, they wandered the earth alone, their hearts charred, until a new species arose: mammals who forged swords and fostered fear with words. Hunted, the dragons cradled the destruction within their bellies and burrowed to the earth's center. Furious, the humans turned on the earth itself.

The dragons are forgotten.

But the war rages on.
