She said I could keep the flashlight. She said she would hear me scream. I stared into the darkness and watched my sweaters separate. She said it was all in my head. She said I shouldn’t have stayed up watching those movies. Then it came. It came with the door open and light on. She said I was safe. She was right. It took her, not me.
