"Sing praises... to thy name... Lord."

That is all the note said. The edges were frayed. The book itself indistinct and charred beyond recognition... for the most part.

Men in white excavated the burned down husk that was once a sanctuary. People gathered and parted nearby, curious but not so much so that they'd risk their lives.

Many were hiding, from what, they were unsure...

More fragments of burning paper rained down from the heavens. Then came the tears.

Then came the tears... in the form of a cleansing, acidic rain.

Biological warfare was the answer, peace a distant prayer.

    Interesting. Second paragraph, third sentence - do you mean 'charred beyond...'?

    very powerful and i like the repetition of the phrase "Then came the tears", very effective.
