Decades before he was born, the thick cloud layer surrounding the earth initially trapped the heat in the atmosphere, but as time passed, the air cooled and the cloud layer grew dense eventually deflecting the heat from the sun. The plants died out and the oceans froze over.

Oxygen generators on the ocean floor pumped breathable air into the atmosphere, but no heat. The frigid air felt like cold sandpaper on his skin through three layers of thermal outerwear designed to reflect body heat.

Sammy needed to get home from school before nightfall.

I'm shivering here and it's sunny with 24 degrees C! Beautifully bleak, Michael!
