As if things weren't bad enough, now the problem was getting worse. Everything she did made things more muddled. It wasn't like her to be in such a quandary.
Shayne needed to step back from her problem and come back at it with a fresh perspective, but like a ravenous dog with a bone, she couldn't, wouldn't let go. The solution was there; she knew it. She was close. She refused to be beaten.
Her heart pounded with frustration. With balled fists, she bellowed a primal growl, then she saw it. A way out. She forgot to carry the one.
