Martha wanted to be a weather forecaster when she grew up. The word was meteorologist, but she preferred the layman's term.

As she lay in the cool green grass under the tree at the top of a small hill outside her quaint little house, she watched the clouds float by in the warm breeze. To her, they were more than whimsical shapes, as many people saw them. By identifying the clouds, one could predict the weather.

But of all the clouds in the sky, the one rising in the distance shaped like a mushroom was the most foretelling of all.

Didn't see it coming... Martha may never get her career opportunity if it was that close! Good one.

DM, she may have to weather the storm to come before she can fulfill any of her ambitions. Glad you enjoyed it.

Neville, thank you. I'm starting to enjoy the surprise ending. I think I may have found my niche.
