The red dust and sky extended beyond the desolate horizon of the Red Planet. Both were witnesses to the history of Mars. Two small figures clad in environmental suits dutifully combed the barren surface with the latest scientific equipment looking for the most minute trace of evidence of life.
"I'm telling you," one suited figure said to the other, "There's no life here, and there never was."
"I agree," the other replied.
Amused onlookers took notice of the humans standing in the middle of a busy downtown intersection discussing the existence of life as traffic and pedestrians passed through them.
