Raymond believed that if life gave you lemons, then it was your duty to make lemonade. There was no logical reason to do otherwise. He held firmly to his conviction that so-called insurmountable odds could be circumvented. All it took was a little dedication and gumption. There was no such thing as fate.

He viewed people who were indigent, unemployed, and insalubrious, and who remained so, as despicable; the direct result of absolute indolence. It was their own fault.

His assistant knocked on his chamber door.

"You're needed in the courtroom, your honor. The jury has reached a verdict."
