The British Airways Boeing 747-400 stood on the tarmac at Sydney International airport, veteran captain Frank Bond at the controls for the return flight to Heathrow London.
The 345 passengers were hunkering down for the long flight home. The new senior steward, a local Sydney girl, introduced herself to Captain Bond in the cockpit and asked him ‘How would you like me to announce you to the passengers?’
He replied nonchalantly: ‘Bond will do’.
Moments later the announcement came over the tannoy ‘ Welcome aboard. This is BA Flight BA016 to Heathrow, our captain today is Captain Bond’ll do.’
