The Skinners Arms at the Oval was packed on Thursday nights drawn, like us, by the resident stripper, Queen Dolly.
Oddly there were eight seats left fronting the makeshift stage - what a stroke of luck!
No sooner seated than a voice behind said ‘I wouldn’t sit there mate if I was you’
‘Why not?’
‘Not if you value your chances’
Unbeknown we had taken the seats of the fearsome Richardson gang that were imminently expected. Self-preservation foremost in mind we retreated to the rear of the crowd with fleeting views of Queenie and the back of the Richardsons’ heads.

Nice one. Sounds like a close shave...could you see from the back in order to check? 😁

Yes - the amusing thing afterwards at the Skinners was the exodus of all the old boys from the tower blocks opposite who having ‘taken their dogs for a walk’ and chained them outside whilst Queenie did her bit retrieved them and no doubt returned to their misses as if they’d been innocently round the block.
