It was the biggest lazy black cat imaginable. Slept all day in the leather chair behind the porter’s desk at Peterhouse. He was a college legend long remembered by past alumni. Only in Cambridge could some clever clogs come up with the name Campus.
Funny how some animals’ names stick; Black Beauty, Old Shep, Fenton the runaway Labrador that went viral chasing deer in Richmond Park or Dolly the sheep. Hi ho Silver!
Choosing a pet’s name is a family fun affair; our marmalade cat was christened Baxter but could have been Chivers. Then there was Mini the Moocher.
