Amazingly the old police station was worth £5m quid. We’ll have that said the Chancellor - sell it for luxury flats. It’ll pay for a few milleseconds of borrowing or a guided missile or two. Plug a gap somewhere in fact.
So out moved the fuzz and in moved the mob. It was a safe old town but with the gamekeepers gone a dodgy lot of scoundrels arrived - like a Wild West town without a sheriff. They’re rumoured to be selling the library next - the end of the line for culture round here. It seems that civilisation itself is under threat.
