I’ve been surrounded by ghosts from ages past thanks to my great grandfather, a sculptor. A cornucopia of family pictures is accrued nowadays on our iPhone chips whenever possible it seems whereas John Taylerson chipped away tirelessly in another medium - stone, marble or ivory - 3 dimensional images of family frozen in time.
He captured my father’s youthfulness before glasses and moustache; Uncle Stanley naked with fish before bunking off to grow oranges in Florida; Auntie Bessie impersonating Hitler; Grandma Elsie, an innocent child with candle at Christmas and Vera before she skidaddled to Cairo.
Far more evocative than any photo.

Ditto what Drew said,Steve. I'd love to see photos of some of his output, particularly Auntie Bessie, Ja! :-)

à propos of my last comment, wouldn't it be good if there was a function on Drablr to show the odd picture. Maybe it's already there and one could temporarily change one's profile pic, and after the half-life of the drabble being illustrated, revert to the profile pic. Just a thought (because I want to see Bessie! :-) )

Yes. Auntie Bessie is a full size bust now in France. An amusing solicitor once stayed with us in my parents home - saw the bust and without telling us stuck a piece of black insulating tape under her nose and I think it was not until we reached the main course that we noted something wrong with Auntie B! Needless to say we kept it there.

Ah! I think I've seen her. Upstairs or downstairs?
