It was a crazy time in 'The Biggest Little City in the World'.
The place vibrated with literally thousands of weird and wonderful Harleys. Dennis Hopper lookalikes cruised around with brides on the back in a sort of white wedding hysteria.
Eric Burdon of the Animals played in the downtown Hilton parking lot to a sea of leather.
The bikers' festival was nothing though compared with the Reno air races themselves held around pylons, approaching 500 mph, just metres from the desert floor.
The easy rider poseurs looked cool but the madcap pilots were the coolest dudes of them all.
