What joy in visiting the boulangerie in France; normally a family business and hub of the community. All those splendid gateaux and the smell of freshly baked baguettes.
It wasn't busy. The womenfolk were standing behind the counter - grandmother, mother, and two teenage daughters - no bread in sight!
Waiting for fresh bread a photograph was produced of 4 kittens in a basket seeking a home.
Instinctively I spouted:
" Quelle boulangerie, pas de pain! seulement 4 chattes adorables".
What a bakery! No bread, just 4 adorable pussies!
The ladies dissolved into laughter. The youngsters just went pink in the face.
