Motionless I crouch behind my sofa, holding my breath as the banging on my door continues.
My body tenses, I picture their eyes squinting through my letterbox, trying to penetrate the darkness beyond, honed to detect any sound or movement.
They are trying to track me down!
I give silent thanks that I remembered to turn off my phone, lock the back door, draw my curtains against prying eyes.
I had a hunch they would come.
Relief engulfs me as I hear their footsteps retreating.
I dearly love my family, but why do they only visit when Corrie is starting!

Thank you so much, I've never written for anyone else before, and until recently I'd never even heard of a Drabble, so it's really great to get such nice reviews x

This is so scarily true! For me, the phone always rings when I've just started my evening meal, or 10 minutes into Poldark. You've really got the hang of this drabble lark, Mary...but I warn you, it's addictive! :-)

What a stunning turn on "The Great Escape." I'm a traditional, classic kind of person, because there was a movie about "The Great Escape" with Steve McQueen. Corrie was certainly about to take action and find a goal to elude her pursuers.
