The cacophony was deafening. “You have to go back to the classics,” Jeffrey exclaimed. “You can’t beat music like Elvis and Lightfoot.”

“You’re living in the dark ages,” retorted Kate. “Jethro Tull, the Who. Proper rockers!”

Maddison chimed in, “you’re off your rocker! Think of Kylie, Wham, Madonna? Pop music rules.”

It was coming to blows – Pixabelle had to do something. “Put the cane DOWN, and YOU, Joshua, don’t even THINK of throwing that walking frame!”

The fun never stops in the Snowdrop Rest home in 2041. The nurse shook her head and made tea for the bickering residents.

You can't beat a bit of Wham!

Absolutely wonderful, Kate, this had me rocking (with laughter, not music) at the end. Personally I'm with the Jethro Tull character!
This is a great lesson in how to turn a well-known saying on its head. Great drabble.

Thanks Drew! And yes, I'm the Tull fan...the name isn't a coincidence :)

I enjoyed this so much I came back to read it again after a few days. Check out 'Rupi's Dance' by Ian Anderson for some awesome post Tull song writing.

I tend to enjoy experimental and indie music myself, but still this story is quite hilarious and entertaining.

A touch of heavy metal and it would have been perfection! ;o)
