Alive

He sat there at the seafood restaurant, waiting for his girlfriend to be done in the bathroom.

When she finally came back to the table, the meals had already arrived.

He got a fork, sticking it into the octopus tentacle. The moment he did, however, the tentacle began flaring around. He dropped the fork at once, watching the tentacle curl and uncurl.

His girlfriend just laughed at him, picking up his fork and shoving the tentacle into her mouth.

"How does it taste?" He asked awkwardly.

She smiled, the gooey insides slipping down her chin.

"It tastes alive," she answered.
