He watched something move about in the dark of his room.
"Time for bed," His mum said, leading him towards his bedroom. The little boy stumbled, saying in pleading words.
"I can't! There's a monster in there!"
His mother rolled her eyes, "Don't be silly, it's just a little darkness, the sun will be up as soon as you know it."
He shook his head, she groaned frustrated. She pushed him in, shutting the door, and the little boy pounded his fists against it, terrified.
"Well, hello, Jacob."
He flung around, looking for the voice.
"Do you want to play...?"

Sounds like a friendly sort of monster to me Aishling! But when I was young I always had to check under my bed for murderers. Years later, it seems killingly funny.
