The elf moved over the lawn, his pointed ears alert for the slightest noise.
Elves avoid humans whenever possible: they can’t bear the relentless hum and screech of electricity and Wi-Fi signals. This elf was on a rescue mission, so had to come closer to a house than ever before.
Soft-footed, he drifted towards the house. A soft pleading whine from the darkest shadows reached his ears. Content brightening his narrow face, the elf flitted to the threadbare kennel.
‘Come with me, boy’ he whispered. He unchained the thin, shivering dog who followed him willingly towards the forest.

So that's where all of the dogs go when they go missing! Well written.

What a beautiful idea.
So many dogs over here _existing_ but not living.

No doubt elves, when the dog goes out barking at seemingly nothing in the night air. Good drabble.
