A nod or a wink in the polling station queue. 50 likes for a meme on Facebook. Singing the anthem, louder, prouder at the football match. We don’t need to speak out loud our conspiracy theories any longer. The shared central nervous system is busy rewriting history, so that what they saw as our nonsense then is now truth. A government of like minds, replenishing itself as necessary but never to be overturned. A clandestine dictatorship. One goal, one vision. One dream of unity, whatever the cost. Onward, brethren, onward. We shall overcome. We shall win. You know we will.

Really dystopian.😨
I’ve really enjoyed reading your drabbles, Lewis. Very fresh. Please keep them coming.

Thanks, Neville. I've enjoyed yours too and many others. I enjoy the format of drabbles, nice challenge.

The great thing about drabbles for me is that they’re fun to write, they don’t require too much effort to write or read. They improve my word agility - ability to rephrase, wield the red pen, strip out all indulgent clever-dicky stuff (wellI I try to) and are less likely to fall foul of writer’s block. Having said my last point though, I have been stuck throughout Covid and still on a substantial drabble novel series. Maybe it only applies to single drabbles or small series🤔.
