When she was a child she was told to believe without question, but her mind wondered why.
She didn’t ask any questions for fear “they” might think her a non-believer. So instead she believed without question, hoped without expectation and loved without doubt.
The teachings from her childhood laid heavy on her heart.
She overcame indoctrination and chose freedom to believe or not. This was the greatest achievement.
Life is a challenge for us all, but to believe in something greater can be comforting.
I’m not saying it’s for everyone, but it works for me most of the time

I agree with what Drew said, LesleyAnne. The piece he identified is indeed beautiful and uses the rule of three so well.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I'll be honest I don't actually know what the "rule of three" is the words just came to me... so I'm learning something new from all this writing Neville - thanks to you. I hope my next drabble will be a bit more uplifting but I guess it depends on your state of mine too and at the moment mine is a little on the dark side with recent events. It felt so good to be able to express these thoughts over the last couple of days. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment.

You are most welcome LesleyAnne. I hope that under the circumstances you are still able to have a good Christmas.

Thank you LesleyAnne and thanks from Mrs H (who has just made, once again, the best mince pies in the world... I’ll share the recipe sometime!)

Just bring the mince pies lol...

That assumes there will be some left. It’s how we get all the family to come to us over Christmas!

A conviction like that must come from the heart, not from tradition. You can't do it because Mommy and Daddy did it. You have to find out what you believe and go with that. Sometimes it turns out to be what you were always taught and sometimes it's not. But you have to be honest with yourself for anything to work. Very thought-provoking, LesleyAnne.

Thanx Christopher. What you said is so true.

As Drew said that statement is amazing.
For me it's the eternal paradox of God versus science and after many years I think I've reached a steady decision but the events of next week could throw me back to where I started........ never know.
